I've just got a question. I came here to look at this again after viewing your tutorials, and now I'm wondering if that black border surrounding Samus is postwork or a filter or an edge enhance from Blender itself.
Hey Xeno-striker, check out this software that they are currently working on integrating into Blender for advanced line/edge rendering. Blender's edge feature is pretty limited, but look at gallery. Oh yeah, software is called Freestyle: [link]
There is a build that can be downloaded somewhere which test freestyle/Blender, but you have to add it to the system variables...thing. Not sure how to do that.
They have that in Maya for a few years now, it's more of a bitch to use than anything.
But since you are very minimalistic on Polys, it should actually be a breeze [without all those pesky mesh incompatibilities with the lines and fuck-up bugs], can't wait to see what you'll achieve with it!
